| "53 Buick" Graffiti 2, The Graffiti
series represents American's love for their wheels. Each work is a pen and
ink illustration recorded in line, point and graphic technique in a style
of minimal realism. As I do in most of my drawings and paintings, whenever
a light value is greater than I can satisfactorily achieve with the medium
I'm working with, I define that intensity with a bent towards minimalism,
composing that area without medium or at a very low level of definition as
if in an intense glare. When working with pen and ink, my tendency is to
record what I see or don't see depending on the intensity of light value
in a given area. I also shy away from using the tried and true symbols
that many pen and ink artists depend on to give definition to the image.
My pen and ink illustrations are simply a record of what I see. The Graffiti
series is ongoing and will continue as time and inspiration allow. I
hope you enjoy my Graffiti as much as I enjoy creating it. |
